Sunday 21st September saw the Scottish Grades Regional Qualifiers in Perth, and silver and bronze medals for Spartans boys.
In the Level 3 competition, Angus Baxter took the second spot, with Benjamin Dowds third, both just pipped by a strong display from Fraser Lynes of City of Glasgow. Congrats to them! In the Level 2 and Level 4 competitions, Danny Finlayson and Ciaran Bisland just missed out on medals with fourth-place finishes. Well done to them, and to Ewan McCabe (also level 2) and youngsters Jude Black, Ewan Know and Stuart Farr (level 1) for a great competition turn-out for Carnegie Spartan.
And to round off a great day of Scottish gymnastics, the boys got to meet Commonwealth silver medallist and Scottish gymnastic hero Liam Davie!
Insurance for all active gymnasts for next year is now due!
We’ll be holding a re-enrollment evening on 11th September to collect annual insurance payments and re-register gymnasts with SGA, with perhaps a follow-up the following week.
SGA have raised the annual insurance payment for Competitive Gymnasts to £41 this year (it was £34). However, if you’re not insured, you can’t train! The cost for Recreational Gymnasts (Sunday morning classes and some pre-level 1 boys in the Beginner’s Competition class) remains £17.
So, please put Sep 11 in your diary and pop upstairs to re-register and re-insure.

More congratulations from a busy weekend, this time for the Spartans’ Artistic squad. All the boys, from Beginners to Level 3, competed in the Scottish Grades Series floor and vault event at Bells Sports Centre, Perth, on Sunday 16th – and all came back with medals!
Our two teams of Under 8s Beginners brought home team gold and bronze, and Aiden and Caleb added individual gold and silver on top – a brilliant result from the youngsters!
In a field of some 28 club develop grade level 1 gymnasts, our Spartans CDG1 boys won team silver. They were matched by the CDG2 boys with team silver in their event – well done indeed guys!
No team results for level 3, but another double individual triumph for Spartans with Angus taking gold and Benjamin silver in a strong field of 12. Many congrats to them, and to all our artistic gymnasts (and coaches!) for a spectacular medals haul!
Big congratulations to Spartans’ TeamGym gymnast Shaun Rennie who won level 5 gold at the British Gymnastics Tumbling Semi Finals in Sheffield over the weekend. Congrats also to Dylan Campbell who came 4th in the level 4 competition, missing a medal by 0.26 (ooo!). Both gymnasts have qualified for the Finals – great job!
